President of b'huth (DCRMC)
Mr. Ahmed Al Mansoori has a BA in Political Science and Economics from Creighton University, USA, and a Masters degree in Quality Management from the Australian Wollongong University.
During his political science education, Al Mansoori identified his dream of establishing a strategic think tank in Dubai which would become a podium for research to serve decision makers. After completion of his education Al Mansoori returned to his country of origin, UAE, where he worked in the trade registration division at the Department of Economic Development in Dubai. He then moved to planning and development where he worked in the capacity of Vice President. During his service, which lasted 6 years, he was in charge of planning the development for various sectors to support the overall economic development of the Emirate. During his time in planning Al Mansoori recognised the role of information and research in planning and decided then to branch out independently to establish a specialized centre in strategic studies.
At the end of 2002, Al Mansoori launched Dubai Consultancy Research and Media Centre which was his first podium for offering strategic studies in a booming city where most decision making channels depended on internally-prepared research. Al Mansoori knew from personal experience that an organization's management and its officials' preferences are likely to be influenced by internal politics. Hence the presence of an independent body capable of providing research in an objective and neutral manner is a better option for decision makers. This was the reason behind DCRMC--to guarantee independent and neutral views and analysis. Through the expert panel that he managed, Al Mansoori presented a wide range of research and studies for various government establishments regarding numerous political, strategic issues as well as recommending polices for many local and federal bodies.
This extensive background has strongly supported Al Mansoori role as Director General and Vice President of the Board of the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST)--the Emirate's leading foundation in this field. Since assuming this role in 2006, Al Mansoori played an active role in directing strategic development of the establishment’s main goals as well as overseeing the administrative and regulatory affairs of the center.
Some of Al Mansoori's achievements in this role include his participation in building and launching the first Emirati satellite for remote sensing and his active participation in several specialized committees, unions, and non governmental bodies.
He is also a board member at Dubai Media Incorporated, Director General of the Watani program for social development, and heads the Board of Directors of Dubai Foundation for Women and Children. He gained the award of Dubai Government Performance Excellence for the year 2000 in the category of “Distinguished Government Employee across all departments”.
Today, after the re-launch of DCRMC with its new identity "b'huth", Al Mansoori hopes that he can provide an intellectual, mature and balanced thinker’s voice on a wide scale of issues and collaborate with "think tanks" around the world.
